Cookie & Local Storage Policy

Last updated September 7, 2026

PsySims uses a limited set of browser storage technologies for secure sessions, first-party analytics, and local preferences. This page explains those uses.

Essential authentication and session storage

PsySims uses cookies and/or browser storage that are necessary to keep users signed in, maintain secure application sessions, preserve Student Portal session boundaries, and support core navigation and account behavior. Blocking essential storage may prevent sign-in or classroom features from working correctly.

First-party analytics storage

PsySims uses a same-origin anonymous visitor ID for its own Supabase page-view analytics. The visitor ID is stored in the browser, is not an account identity or authorization credential, and is used only for best-effort site-usage measurement. Internal testing browsers can be excluded from this PsySims analytics flow.

Preferences and local controls

PsySims may use local browser storage for interface preferences and operational controls, such as internal analytics exclusion state. These values are used to remember settings on the same browser and origin and are not used as an entitlement or security authority.

Google and Microsoft sign-in

If Google or Microsoft sign-in is enabled and you choose one of those options, the provider may use its own cookies or browser storage as part of the authentication flow. Those provider technologies are governed by the provider’s own policies.

Hosting and infrastructure

Vercel may process technical request information and infrastructure metrics as part of hosting the application. Cloudflare may process requests related to file storage and delivery. These infrastructure processes are separate from PsySims first-party page-view visitor IDs.

Advertising and cross-site tracking

PsySims does not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral tracking as part of its own analytics implementation. If that changes, this policy and any required consent controls should be updated before the new tracking is enabled.

Managing browser storage

Most browsers allow you to inspect, remove, or block cookies and local storage. Removing essential session storage may sign you out or require you to re-enter classroom access credentials. Removing analytics or preference storage may reset the associated browser-specific settings.
